Hearing the Bible really well read is a thrilling experience - but, sadly, an all too rare one. The Backyard Bard delivers the word of God to us in the way God meant it to be delivered to us: with impacting faithfulness. As you listen and watch you'll be drawn into the text of Scripture, and you'll be given a wonderful model of Bible reading. We've had them minister at BCV, and we'd have them back!

Biblical Storytelling is more than what it sounds like at first. It is one of the most impacting biblical experiences I have had. It is the word of God delivered by someone who has internalised it in many different senses and has the skill to communicate it with drama and dynamism.
I have found this more powerful than the best of sermons. It is the pure spoken word of God, nothing more and nothing less.

The first time I saw The Backyard Bard I was unable to speak for about 15 minutes afterwards. I was floored. As Simon then reminded me, they have a great scriptwriter! God's word is alive! The Backyard Bard help us know this in a fresh way. Paul said to eanestly desire the gifts that build up the church. B.B's gift in the church builds us up in Him no matter what "style" of church, or what age the listener.
Do your church a big favour, let your souls be nourished by inviting them to come. God uses them greatly.

The Backyard Bard is putting the old craft of Biblical Storytelling back on the map. Not just because they tell stories from the Bible that are confronting, passionate and full of intrigue; but because The Backyard Bard believes all of us can do it. To hear The Backyard Bard is a profound experience, but I suggest you go one better and book yourself into one of their interactive workshops. You will surprise yourself at how good you are at Biblical Storytelling while the word of God is bound to grip you at the deepest level.

I can strongly recommend Biblical Storytelling. I have been very impressed with the work that they do in working on the text of Scripture as well as in communicating it in a way that is relevant, clear, and sensitive to its original meaning. In a day when it’s hard to persuade people to read the Bible, the people from The Backyard Bard are a gift from God in bringing its message to us.

Simon's presentations bring the people of the Bible to life. They help people to relate to the Bible stories and see them as relevant for today.
All of this stems from Simon's personal connection with the Scriptures and his passion to see the Bible impact people today. It has been really encouraging to see people respond to The Backyard Bard and I am very happy to recommend them to others.

Who doesn't love a good story? Hollywood exist to tell them, Mills and Boone make millions selling their romantic pulp fiction and many an hour has been spent at the bars of Australia's pubs telling extremely dubious fishing stories.
Biblical Storytelling conjures up all sorts of images such as the rather longwinded Sunday school flannelgraph stories of David and Goliath. Not so with The Backyard Bard.
Simon's ability to draw you into the amazing world of the Bible is a unique gift. Why not experience it for yourself?

I have had the privilege of hearing the Backyard Bard do various story
telling presentations - the Easter and Christmas narratives, Judges, Daniel, Esther, Jonah, Samuel, and Elijah. They have all been fantastic. I was brought to tears by their telling of the Easter story. I love the Backyard Bard's commitment to letting the power of God's word work it's own effect. I love the way they tell the Bible's story in a way that capitalizes on it's narrative form, and I love how their telling of the story really helps people connect with God within the text. As a preacher, I wish my sermons could be even half as powerful and memorable as a Backyard Bard storytelling!

I met Simon Camilleri during Ignition Creative Artists gathering back in April 2005, and was very inspired by him. The workshop that I did with Simon on Biblical Storytelling was very impactful for me personally. I am convicted that this is a powerful way of communicating the spoken Word of God.

Biblical Storytelling is a very powerful and moving theatrical and spiritual experience! The concept has the simplicity of all good ideas, but the vigour and passion for the story.
